Acne Scarring
What Causes Acne Scarring?
When the pores to the follicles are blocked with a buildup of dead skin cells and the overactive sebaceous glands produce an excessive amount of sebum for the gland’s capacity, the p.acnes bacteria thrive in the gland and their growth increases until the walls of the sebaceous glands rupture and dispel their contents into the surrounding dermal tissue. When the gland ruptures, it causes inflammation, swelling and discomfort. The inflammatory response initiates an over-production of collagen to heal the injury. However an excess of collagen is then produced by fibroblasts in the dermis where the injury has occurred, resulting in the formation of an acne scar.
What is ice pick scarring?
Ice pick scars are scars that extend deep into the dermis with steep sides leaving an obvious small hole that looks like it could have been created by a sharp instrument. Ice pick scarring results from severe acne outbreaks.
How to Improve Ice pick Scarring
Lamprobe Radio Frequency Collagen Induction Therapy is used to stimulate anti-fibrotic growth factors in atrophic scars, chicken pox scars and ice pick scars. The induced injury to the scar tissue lifts the indentation and stimulates the formation of healthy tissue in the isolated scar tissue to minimize the appearance of the scarring.
