Radio Frequency Skin Tightening
Radio Frequency Skin Tightening
Radio Frequency Skin Tightening utilizes excessive heat in a comfortable skin treatment with mono-polar, bi-polar and tri-polar probes to remodel collagen and elastin. The heat generated increases to 40 degrees C on the surface of the skin and rises to 65 degrees C in the dermis to create a shrinking of the elastin proteins similar to meat shrinking in a heated pan, to tighten the skin. The heat also stimulates the synthesis of collagen and elastin in the dermis improving the structure and functioning of all dermal activity creating a smoother appearance to lines and wrinkles, similar to ironing a silk shirt. Treatment intervals are 14 days apart and for optimal results a course of about 6 treatments over a period of 3 months is recommended.
What to expect during and after treatment
During the treatment, the client will feel heat and slight pressure that is comfortable. There is no down time post treatment. Slight redness and mild oedema may be present immediately after the session and a feeling of sun-sensitivity may be present. The oedema makes the skin plump out so that the lines and wrinkles are softened. The main benefits of collagen and elastin synthesis start peaking at day 14, so this is where the lasting benefits are created. Post treatment, the client/patient must avoid heat, sun, chemicals and alcohol on the treated areas and keep the skin well hydrated.
Can Radio Frequency be used on other areas of the body for tightening?
Radio Frequency can be used on any area of the body including the labia majora, where a tightening of about 1cm over a period of 6 months can be achieved. Radio Frequency can be performed anywhere on the body for contouring and tightening loose skin except boney areas.
