Skin Blemish Removal

Skin Blemish Removal

Skin blemishes can be a cause for low self-esteem and social anxiety. People generally make assumptions about others based on appearance so it is natural that some may want to invest in blemish removal. However, it is important to know what blemish removal methods are the safest and most effective.

Can Blemishes be removed Safely?

Due to advances in skin care technology it is far easier now to create flawless skin than ever before. Historically, skin professionals and doctors would advise that common lesions were best left alone. The methods available to the medical profession at the time, such as burning or freezing of blemishes using liquid nitrogen, had adverse side effects such as scarring, hyper-pigmentation or hypo-pigmentation. Today, there is a plethora of technologies and techniques available to safely and effectively remove blemishes with little to no side-effects.

The Lamprobe is a FDA & CE approved device that removes minor skin lesions using Radio and High Frequency technology. Below are examples of all the different unsightly and uncomfortable lesions that can be removed.

What are the differences between Lamprobe, Plexr, burning devices, Cryotherapy and Liquid Nitrogen?

  1. Lamprobe

The Lamprobe is safe to use on all skin types from the fairest skin to the darkest. Results are immediate with a reduced likelihood of a re-treatment being necessary. The Lamprobes technology is based on radio and high frequency current similar to a microwave. The heat is attracted to the moisture within the lesion to vapourise it, dry (desiccate) it, or thermo-coagulate it, depending on the type of lesion. There is no risk of blistering or flesh burning and the delicate and precise nature of Lamprobe technology makes it safe to use in the area around the eyes or other sensitive areas such as the genitals. Lamprobe is incredibly precise, allowing it to be targeted exclusively on the lesion without affecting the surrounding healthy tissue.

  1. Plexr/Burning Devices

Plexr is a skin tightening device that utilizes a plasma arc to burn the skin at a specific spot, instantly contracting and tightening the skin. This method is effective on lighter skin but carries a risk of scarring and hypo-pigmentation on darker skin due to the lack of temperature adjustments for darker skin tones. The procedure uses high temperatures and results in the unpleasant odour of burning flesh, making it unsuitable for use on or near the face or sensitive areas like the genitals. Plexr devices are only indicated for hyper-keratinised lesions and not pimples, milia, acne, capillary and vein removal. The treatment occurs over a period of a few weeks and with each treatment, minute carbon scabs form that may regress treatment or cause scarring if picked at.

  1. Liquid Nitrogen

Liquid nitrogen is incredibly cold and must be kept in a canister or flask and transferred by a practitioner to the lesion using a cotton applicator. This method is very effective for removing warts but due to the extremely low boiling point of nitrogen, it is very inaccurate. It generally targets the blemish in question and a small area of healthy tissue surrounding it. Another unfortunate side-effect of nitrogen’s low boiling point is that it is very difficult to achieve consistent temperatures, leading to results that vary with far too great a margin. Often customers require multiple repeat sessions for the same treatment to achieve any reliable degree of success. Liquid nitrogen is not recommended for use on dark skin due to possible hyper-pigmentation but it is still commonly used for wart removal.

  1. Cryotherapy

Nitrous Oxide is encased in a cartridge and contained in a pen-like device to deliver the nitrous oxide directly to the lesion without the temperature being compromised and at a constant pressure to freeze warts more effectively than the older liquid nitrogen in a flask method. This treatment option is indicated for keloid scars and flat pigmented lesions.

What Is The Right Blemish Removal Treatment For Me?

We recommend and carry out treatments using the Lamprobe, a safe and effective blemish removal device. It removes unwanted minor skin lesions using radio and high frequency technology similar to a microwave current. The current used is gentle enough that it does not harm healthy skin tissue, while effective enough to remove the unwanted skin blemishes, moles, warts and other unsightly lesions. All the other methods are risky on darker skin tones, while carrying an increased risk of adverse side effects and ineffective treatment sessions.
